Harry Potter star keen to try his hand at poetry
November 9, 2006

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe wants to quit acting to become a poet.

The 17-year-old actor - who has just finished shooting the fifth instalment of the magical film franchise, Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix - has revealed he hopes to explore his hidden writing talent in the future but has ruled out going to university because he already has a career.

He told Britain's The Times newspaper: "One day in the future I would like to focus more on writing poetry. I don't see myself going to university, though. I think that's a time for people to work out what they want to do with their lives. I already know."

Daniel has also confessed he is looking forward to becoming a pushy parent.

He added: "I'm going to sit them down and say, 'When I was your age I had done this, this, this and that. What have you done?'"

The young actor's next role will see him ride a horse naked on stage in the revival of Peter Shaffer's play Equus.

Daniel gushed: "My character is complex and dark and I'm honoured to be entrusted with playing him." - Bang Showbiz
