Melanie Scholtz, the winner of this year's Standard Bank Young Artist of the Year for Jazz award, will launch her latest album, Connected, at the Artscape theatre on Sunday with her band The Love Apples.
Her band comprises Andrew Lilley (piano), Gorm Helfjord (guitar), Charles Lazar (double bass) and Jonno Sweetman (drums), with special guest trumpeter Ole Jorn Myklebust (Norway), who also produced Scholtz's album.
The Artscape Youth Jazz Vocal Ensemble will join Scholtz on stage, as they have been part of Artscape's Youth Jazz Festival for the past four years.
This performance is definitely one not to be missed, especially if you are wondering what to expect from Scholtz at the National Arts Festival to be held later this year in Grahamstown.
