Singers Whitney Houston and Akon are expected to perform at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium next month.
The duo, two of the biggest R&B stars in the world, will be in the city to celebrate the 100-day countdown to the World Cup, which starts on June 11.
"Durban is definitely going to be rocking," deputy mayor Logie Naidoo said on Tuesday.
While more details were to be revealed today on how the concert promoters landed the two international stars, the city said it was playing its part by providing the logistics for the massive event.
"The stadium is ready and we will ensure the traffic will be co-ordinated and the ground cover will be protected," said Naidoo.
Come rain or sunshine, the city is expecting about 50 000 people to buy tickets for the concert.
Akon, famous for songs such as Be with You, Beautiful and I Wanna Love You, is going to be a treat for fans.
The singer has his roots in Senegal and is known for his "West African R&B".
Houston is making a comeback, after years of drug use and rehabilitation.
As a former model and actress, she has many songs to her credit, including I Will Always Love You, I Want to Dance With Somebody and last year's hit, I Look To You.
