Another major organisation has come out against Multichoice's decision to test the viability of a pornography channel.
Solidarity Helping Hands, a non government organisation affiliated to mine workers union Solidarity, has launched a campaign urging South Africans to vote against the proposal and by sending in an email.
In a press statement released on Monday Solidarity Helping Hand's executive director Dr. Danie Langer said the channel could lead to an increase in child molestation.
"There is a strong correlation between pornography and child molestation," said Langer.
"All those who watch pornography are not necessarily molesters, but according to experts all child molesters watch pornography. Perversion is aroused by pornography. Because family members or acquaintances are largely responsible for abuse, child abuse will increase dramatically."
Various other faith based organisations also attacked Multichoice's decision on Friday.
Standing Together to Oppose Pornography, the Christian Action Network and the Muslim Judicial Council all said that they opposed the channel.
In the statement SHH also say that a child viewing pornography could be "regarded as a form of child molestation" and that it could lead to sexual experimentation.
SHH warn that they will encourage all of their members to cancel their DSTV subscriptions should Multichoice go ahead with channel.
The organisation aim to deliver all letters received during the campaign to Multichoice CEO Nico Meyer.

WHy are the people that claim the moral hi-ground not fighting against abortion! After all, porn is concentual and DSTV has ways to block it from younger viewers. On the other hand, abortion is murder, start fighting against that.

To all those people who think it is okay to have a porn channel, if you don't adjust your viewpoint and your moral stand point, you are in for a major shock when you die. The kind of shock that would turn a child's hair white. Please also try to bear in mind that this life is really very very short compared to infinity.

As Mr Zuma told us last week - We need to have a national conversation - The result or aim of this will be to allow different people with different views to still exercise their individual rights - Mr Zuma can have 5 wives, I can watch my Porn channel and those who choose not to to can do whatever they want - Its called Democracy

Please identify your so called "experts".
So your religion does not allow you to watch porn? So therefor no one else may? Don't you think this is a bit selfish? And you are threatening DSTV that you will cancel your subscription?
It is exactly these sort of character traits (being selfish and threatening others) that makes more and more people not wanting to be associated with your religion.

It doesnt take a genius to know that there is both a correlative and causal relationship between porn and abnormality. Like drugs, porn makes otherwise normal people do abnormal things.

Totally agree with "ducky". These bigots keep quiet when the priests abuse hundreds of innocent kids. In my vew, overexposure to religiuos ad other unnatural constraints is the true link to child molestation. Porn has got nothing to do with it.

Its also a known fact that while not all religious groups are intolerant of views that don't agree with their own, all the people who are intolerant of other people's views are religious groups. Perhaps we should ban them too?
