Robertson Winery shiraz wins top accolade  Comments
July 23, 2010

By Arts writer

Robertson Winery's flagship, the No 1 Constitution Road Shiraz (2006), was awarded the Regional Trophy at the 2010 Decanter World Wine Awards.

The competition, which is considered by some to be the archetypal benchmark of excellence by global standards, is held under the auspices of the UK's Decanter Magazine.

The Decanter World Wine Awards judge wines according to taste, specific region and price.

To achieve this, award-winning oenologist Stephen Spurrier appoints regional judges who are proficient in particular locales.

Robertson winery's No 1 Constitution Road Shiraz is made from the best barrels sourced from Robertson Winery's shiraz vineyards.

Their achievement is praiseworthy given the record number of entries which totalled 11 000, more than double the number of entries seven years ago when the competition began.

Fewer than three percent of the total entries were awarded either Gold or the accolade of being named Regional Trophy Winner.
