It's a shoo-in. Madiba's going to crush the dreams of Mark Pilgrim and PJ Powers and top SABC3's 100 Great South Africans. But now it's time for the pious - who voted in polls for that no-doubt fabulous show - to turn their backs on the rest of us as we get ready to dip our fingers in the poison ...
M-Net is negotiating for the rights to screen a local version of Channel 4's excellent 100 Worst Britons. It would air, rumour has it, from early next year - so a ratings war will surely be on.
The Brits speared all holy cows and awarded Prime Minister Tony Blair first place. Man U's Alex Ferguson made seventh spot, while The Queen slipped in neatly at number 10.
SABC3 has been doing much publicity work to promote its 100 Great South Africans - also a borrowed idea from the BBC's 100 Great Britons
.
In true tongue-in-cheek style, Channel 4 launched its 100 Worst Britons earlier this year. Larger-than-life glamour model, Jordan - not to be confused with our Phil Collins-wannabe with the gravelly voice, Ed Jordan - made number two. (No prizes for guessing who's going on my Worst list.)
The show was classic, no-holds-barred British wit and largely poked fun at media celebs' idiosyncrasies. If M-Net gets the rights, their show should test our notorious celebrity egos - and teach a few of them to laugh at themselves.
Jordan? Michael Mol? May the "worst" man - or woman - win.
