South African-born Jane Dutton has joined Al Jazeera International's presenting team. Dutton most recently worked as presenter/ reporter for CNBC Europe/US on a special series of 30-minute programmes, The Business of Development, and as a freelance presenter for BBC World.
Prior to that Jane worked for CNN as presenter for their Morning International TV News, anchoring the network's four half-hour morning shows.
She also presented CNN's travel show HotSpots from a different country every week with an estimated 250-million viewers reached per show.
Her previous experience includes working as an evening TV news presenter for e.tv in Cape Town, including working as an anchor, news editor and executive producer, as well as working for Cape Talk Radio as duty news editor and freelance Radio Drive-time presenter.
In addition, Jane's experience extends to ITN where she worked as a freelance TV news reporter, producing and reporting for their Channel 5 News in both Cape Town and London
. She also contributed to L!VE TV in London as a studio presenter and reporter and to SABC TV as a news correspondent in London.
Speaking on the appointment from the channel's headquarters in Doha, director of news Steve Clark said, "Jane brings a wealth of experience spanning three continents."
"It's great to be joining Al Jazeera International at its inception and to have the opportunity to present from its headquarters in the Middle East, bringing a fresh perspective on world news to English speakers around the world," said Dutton.
She will present from the channel's Doha headquarters - one of four broadcast centres strategically placed around the world in Doha, Kuala Lumpur, London and Washington DC.
As the headquarters, Doha will be responsible for the majority of the channel's daily news output with the rest of the transmission being split between the other centres. - Tonight Reporter
