X marks the spot for Cole
November 10, 2009

Cheryl Cole spends weeks planning her X Factor outfits, from the designer shoes to the shade of varnish on her perfectly manicured nails.

But this week a vital part of her wardrobe was missing - the diamond sparkler on her left hand.

The ring, which her footballer husband Ashley bought her to replace her wedding ring, only reappeared in public in September after nine months in a drawer. Its latest disappearance is significant.

It is almost a year since Aimee Walton claimed she'd slept with Ashley, 28. Cheryl, 26, has fought hard to overcome the hurt she felt.

But on Saturday night, Cheryl appeared on X Factor without her wedding band. A source said Cheryl had merely forgotten to put it on. On the next night's results show, however, the ring did not reappear.

Cheryl has been very public in admitting things are not right and in an interview last month she said: "I've come to the conclusion that I don't trust anybody in life except my mother and my dogs."

Cheryl isn't a crier, she is a fighter. And right now, she should be on top of the world. But behind the gorgeous smile, Cheryl is crumbling. She has grown tired of fighting for her marriage.

Meanwhile, Simon Cowell plans to launch Cheryl in the US. If she goes, her wedding ring will likely remain off her finger permanently. - Daily Mail
