New Year's gigs in Pretoria

  • The line-up for the the Tuks FM New Year's Party in Hatfield Square includes Garage Pie Band, Ef-El, Shades of Faith, Evolver, aKing and Fokofpolisiekar. Cover charge is R80 or R100 at the door. Gates open at 4pm. Call 012-362-5316 for more information.

  • The Blue Room, cnr Bosman and Church sts, has something planned for smooth R'nB lovers. Metro FM DJs Eddie Zondi, Wilson B Nkosi and Paul Mtirara will play there from 10pm till close. Entrance is free. Call 072-692-2148.

  • Alternative club Zeplin's also has a New Year's party. There are four dance floors and the following bands will perform on each: Urban Vitamin, Demented Martyr, Giant Pain and Calamity. Drinks special: drink for free from 7pm till 4am. The first 500 people get a free bottle of mini-champagne. There will also be free snacks .   • House 22, 22 Gerhard Moerdyk St, Sunnyside, hosts a 48-hour party. The line-up includes DJs Mac D, Black Coffee, DJ R, Makola, Bubbles, Lady Kate, That Guy Larry, Small and many more. One-day pass is R30 and two-day pass is R50. Call 079-249-8896. Doors open at 7pm.

  • Another 48-hour party is happening at Lentswe's Pub, in Ramogodu, in GaRankuwa, where they'll be throwing a beach party. Catch Positive K, Silly Bean, Miggs, Malankane, Bongi, Lil Khuze, Nasty Nev, TK, Maenyaenya, Ivan and Mpako. On New Year's Day there's Black Coffee, Kanunu, Da Vinci, Segale Mogotsi, Clifford Phalatse, DK and others. Cover charge is R50. Doors open at 6pm on New Year's Eve and from noon on New Year's Day.
